Biography: Christina Maslo


Christina Maslo is an 18 year old student currently entering the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

Having grown up in a Ukrainian household, the Ukrainian language and culture have always been an integral part of her life. Christina has completed the four years of Ukrainian studies at Ivan Franko Ukrainian School on Saturday mornings. She is active in the Ukrainian community, particularly CYMK at St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral.

Christina has completed the Full International Baccalaureate Program at Ross Sheppard High School, achieving honours with distinction. She was awarded the James P. Jones Award as exceptional student in Grade 12 French in the Edmonton Public School System.

In her Grade 12 year Christina interviewed a survivor of the Ukrainian Famine, Dr. Yar Slavutych, and arranged for him to speak at her high school. Christina looks forward to pursuing her studies of the Ukrainian language and history at the University of Alberta.
